Do:

Stay Calm.
Put a rescue alert on your door to let emergency workers know there is a pet inside.
Have a way of identifying your pet.
Make sure the information on your pets' collar is up to date.
Update your pets important documents.
Have a leash or carrier close by in case of evacuation.

Don't:

Panic.
Call 911 unless it is an emergency.
Leave your pets behind unless you have to.
Run back home to save your pet(s).
Leave it to the authorities.
Let your pets lick you in a emergency.

- Tell them important information about your pet(s) such as what they eat and what medication may be needed for you pet.
- Tell them where to take your pet(s) in an emergency.
