Power outages happen during storms, high winds, scorching temperatures, or freezing rain. Power outages can last a few hours to a few weeks.

Visit PG&E to sign up for alerts about outages, notices, and service information by phone, text, and/or email. This is an opt-in system. 

Also, Genasys Protect is an evacuation management tool used by first responders. Residents are encouraged to Know Your Zone by visiting the community-facing Genasys Protect site to find the zone you live in. First responders will reference your zone in emergency alerts, like AC Alert. 

Please read the following information to prepare for a potential power outage disaster.

Be Alert:  down line

  • If you see a power line down stay away and call 911.
  • Know where you circuit breakers and/or fuse boxes are located.
  • Have the phone numbers of your local utility companies in your phone.

 

Plan and Prepare:  ice chest

  • Create an emergency plan for you household.
  • Fill a plastic container with emergency supplies.
  • Have ice chests and ice packs to keep items from spoiling.

During a Power Outage:  

  • Confirm your power is out.
  • Report your power outage to your local utility.
  • Unplug all electric appliances and electronics.
  • Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
  • Use flashlights for light.
  • Conserve battery life on electronics.
  • Stay in communication with local utility and neighbors.
