Senate Bill 1 (SB 1)
About SB 1
SB 1 is a source of State funding to enhance highway, transit, and local roads statewide. Over the next 10 years, Livermore will receive approximately $24 million in funding from SB 1 - the Road Repair and Accountability Act. Livermore will receive more than $3 million over the next 2 years alone, which will be used to resurface or add a seal coat to many Livermore streets.
This new transportation program was approved in 2017 and will go towards repairing and maintaining local roads, reduce congestion, and increase mobility options, including bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Approximately $5.9 million of SB1 funds are planned for FY 2024-25 projects:

Funding Sources
Funding for SB 1 comes from gas tax and vehicle fees. Statewide, SB 1 is expected to generate more than $5 billion annually to repair roads, ease traffic congestion, fill potholes, make seismic safety improvements to bridges and overpasses, and repair local streets and freeways. Funding in SB 1 is split equally between state and local governments for highway and local road repair and maintenance. For cities, SB 1 will increase revenues they each receive from the state for their local street maintenance and rehabilitation needs.
