Commission Meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Monday of the month at the Robert Livermore Community Center, Sycamore Room, 4444 East Avenue, unless otherwise posted. All meetings are open to the public and subject to the Ralph M. Brown Act.

2023-2024 Calendar

The Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission has the following duties and responsibilities:

• Promote youth involvement in the Livermore community and support communication between the elected officials and the young people in the area.
• Create a forum for ideas and concerns and provide a vehicle for the interests and needs of youth, to be communicated to the City Council and to the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District.
• Establish a forum for the youth of Livermore to participate in alerting the community to the needs of youth in Livermore and in finding solutions to address those needs.
• Establish a clearinghouse of information regarding resources for youth by collecting such information, keeping it up-to-date, and publicizing it in the various media (flyers, newspapers, community television, radio, the Internet, etc.).
• Promote tolerance and appreciation of diversity in Livermore youth through organizing and supporting events.
• Support the goals and priorities as adopted by the City Council.

The Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission consists of eighteen members. Fifteen members are youth, ages 12 through 20, preferably attending Livermore schools. Youth members who attend Livermore schools are not required to be residents of the City of Livermore. Three members shall be non voting adult members; adult members must be residents of the City of Livermore.

Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission members may serve no more than four consecutive two-year terms or a total of eight years, unless the member was selected to complete an unexpired term or unless otherwise noted

The Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission is not currently accepting applications.  

Volunteering provides an opportunity to learn about the operating policies and procedures of municipal government. It personifies citizen participation in policy determination and provides an opportunity to play a vital role in the communication process between citizens and elected representatives.
