Then & Now: Checking Out Livermore Library History

Loretta Kaskey will give a presentation entitled Checking Out Livermore Library History on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the Storytime Room of the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave. This presentation is part of Then & Now: Livermore Stories, a local history lecture series co-presented by the Livermore Public Library and the Livermore Heritage Guild. Registration is not required to attend this free program for adults.

The City of Livermore has a rich history of supporting libraries. Livermore established its first public reading room in the 1890s. The City eventually built and supported a Carnegie Library, an historic building which still stands on Fourth Street. The Livermore Public Library left downtown and moved to the corner of South Livermore Avenue and Pacific. In 2004, the Livermore Public Library moved to its present location. Loretta Kaskey’s presentation celebrates 20 years of Livermore’s newest library building.
